Within one's own circle of reality, self-censorship is more common than societal censorship. We want others to see the bright beautiful but often synthetic world around us without having to reveal ourselves. Our deepest darkest thoughts are covered with a pall of saccharine pretense. Nevertheless, despite our intended appearance, our self-censorship reveals our discomposure and confusion
