Children with Frame

This painting is based on a number of images originally taken from encyclopedia from the late 1960s. My intention was to show something of the complexity of the the link between specific historic realities and the image used to represent them by creating a painting of an historic non-reality. The painting also highlights the loaded (coded) nature of image elements and the necessary illusion (spacial) around which images function.
