It is true. I am not one of those many paintings that portray a beautiful sunset over Tuscany, or a scenic sunflower field, nor am I an inviting vineyard as you might usually get to see. I am also not an idyllic winter landscape that is heart-warming despite the depicted cold. I did not turn out to be a field of poppies, a garden full of peonies, a forest, or a realistic bowl of fruit. No, I am the vision of what might happen, if you do not take care of all that is listed above. I might become an apocalyptic reality.
The plant under the glass cover and its natural cycles, including the production of oxygen, represent ALPHA, the beginning. Everything that led to its exploitation, and in further consequence to its destruction is symbolized by OMEGA, the end. In this case OMEGA is referring to us humans.
What I would like to achieve is to make you reassess how you treat Mother Nature. I hope you will think of me from time to time to remind yourself to be more careful with our natural resources, so that I will stay only a figment of a painter’s imagination, in order for future generations to be able to enjoy those beautiful sunflower fields, delicately scented peonies and stunning sunsets over Tuscany.

THIS SERIES ADDRESSES THE HUMAN IMPACT ON MOTHER NATURE AND EXPLORES THE IDEA OF A HUMAN APOCALYPSE. ALPHA REPRESENTS NATURE, WHEREAS OMEGA SYMBOLIZES ‘THE END’, RESPECTIVELY DESTRUCTION (THROUGH HUMANS). THE VIEWER IS CONFRONTED WITH A DYSTOPIAN VISION OF THE POSSIBLY NEAR FUTURE AND TRANSPORTED INTO A WORLD THAT IS THE RESULT OF WAR, POLLUTION AND A WASTEFUL USE OF NATURAL RESOURCES. THE SERIES EXPLORES POSSIBLE CONSEQUENCES OF HUMAN-CAUSED DESTRUCTION, DRIVEN BY GREED AND AN EXCESSIVE DESIRE TO ACCUMULATE MATERIAL GOODS AND WEALTH. THROUGH MY PAINTINGS, I STRIVE TO PROVOKE A CHANGE OF THINKING AND TO INVITE THE VIEWER TO RECONSIDER HOW OUR ACTIONS AFFECT OUR ENVIRONMENT AND THE WORLD WE LIVE IN.
