The paintings belong to the cycle of “Vanitas” of which Pagliasso G. wrote: ...The same sort of translation, although enriched by the condensation and overlapping of metaphors, is found in “Vanitas”, even though the relationship with the sublime is rendered more immediate through finitude’s disturbing unravelling.The subjects here are manikins and clothes, painted from original photographs of window shops from all over the world, the first are simulacra-metaphors, the latter metonymies of the body.The atmosphere that hovers over all the paintings is characterized by a sort of scenic rarefaction, so much so that each painting seems to be set in a metaphysical theatre…
