Invading Spaceships (Naves Invasoras / Astronavi Invasori) is one of the dozen of images of this sequence of works inspired on an extraterrestrial invasion to the planet earth. This image in particular, does have as a background an urban landscape within a public park nearby from where I live. I have done about a dozen or more realistic drawings and small paintings studies of this park, which is the background of trees and mature for the final effect of these conceptual ideas about the landing of hi-technological elements of an advance galactic civilization. Although this image, like many other of this sequence do show an abstract outcome, the painting overall concept is close to realism. My work is a fusion between traditional and contemporary concepts influence by the digital media and the special effects seen in many science fiction movies. This work as well as others in this whole series has been inspired on a number of science fiction films on extraterrestrial invasions, especially on the classic film of 1951 and on the second version of 2008 entitled: “The Day the Earth Stood Still”. My concept of hi-technology is the fusion and combination of natural-organic elements with high intelligence crafted tools that can make a number of encounters, events and apparitions look as supernatural or paranormal wonders. My work implies changes and the advancement of how technology will be able to perform all sort of visual bionic effects. The science fiction of the past is the reality of the technology we have today. The simple thought that we are not along in this vast universe implies that visitors from other distance planets and galaxies will someday will land out in the open with advance technology that allow them to move with efficiency and with resources that will surpass any of our present knowledge on space travel, high speed and safely landing on any far away planets regardless of the atmosphere traits. My work has to be viewed for its well thoughtful content, originality and conclusion.
