I’m a hunter of colours, which in the landscape are in constant change with the light, the weather and the seasons. Nothing is static in a landscape and chasing colour and its changing mood is what inspires my work. Painting outdoors acts as an initial ‘filter’ to select and modify colours. The experience is a careful study of the combination of colours whilst working in situ. Back in the studio I aim to take the essence of the colours, forms and compositional rhythms to create abstract and semi-abstract images based on the landscape.
