The millennial history of the Vesuvian countries, the mystery that emerges from the remains of the ancient cities buried by Vesuvius, the spirit and culture of these places are the creative material that characterizes this phase of my artistic research. The historical memory of the events of the past is rediscovered, revisited and re-proposed in the light of the present through careful iconographic research of the representations that, over the centuries, have had the eruptions of Vesuvius, the events that have affected the Vesuvian countries, suggestions received from other artists. The search for an archetypal, almost primitive image and at the same time the reference to classical iconography are manifested in the destructive but cathartic energy of the natural element, in the representation of fragments of men and architecture, in the color and sign rendering characterized by colors distributed in patches and material stripes, the jute canvas support and the pictorial technique give the works an aspect that brings them closer to the faded and eroded frescoes from the time of Pompeii and other archaeological sites.
