Series of seven photographic sculptures, mixed technique, sewing on photography; Mounted and framed in wooden boxes; 260 x 150 x 13-16 cm & 130 x 100 x 13 cm 2014 The Devout Fleshes series is the plastic study of human anatomy, and the artistic process of photographic material. Working with the essential points of my approach - man and his relation to the sacred - I act by metamorphosis, constructing a narrative through the practice of manual sewing and digital collage. Printed on canvas, my pictures depict statues with classical shapes, and a mystical appearance that harbors anatomical illustrations, and ordinary stitched objects, anchor points of an earthly chronicle, one thing leading to another. Devout Fleshes is a polysemous work underpinned by a political gesture. Addressing sacred issues, my discourse confronts the idea of creed, and earthly and organic dimensions of faith.
