In recent works I have focused on mixed media and large installation using photographs of plastics found in parks. I then rework these photographs using multiples of an image over and over again to build a body of work. My intention is to change the work daily and build on visual diary using ideas of humor, time as a construct, risk, play, loss and the idea of living with uncertainty.
Bio
I received my MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art located outside of Detroit, Michigan in 2006. After graduating from Cranbrook I returned to my home in Colorado and became the curator of The Western Colorado Center for the Arts (WCCA), and later it’s Executive Director. I loved the people and the center and stayed there from 2007-2015, but had always wanted to live and work in Chicago.
After moving to Chicago in 2015, I was appointed executive director of Riverside Arts Center in early 2017. I was recently published in New American Painting 2018, Studio Visit Magazine and was featured in the Voyager online interview series in September 2019.
In December of 2020, I will have a solo exhibit at RAC titled "5 months in space" in which I will be mapping, photographing, and responding to the gallery as a site for exploration. The work will include photographic collages, installations, and floor pieces.
