Biography

I come from Lebanon, my name is Solange El Heybe, clinical psychologist ith an emphasis on expressive therapies, visual art therapy - most specifically.
I used to work as an Art Therapy Moderator at Roumieh Juvenile Prison (Lebanon) and Palestinian Camps and I was always inspired to reach colors into those people’s lives, a more well-being, and healthy, comfortable way to reach positive thinking, a positive vision and hope, which has always inspired me to give life to walls surrounding these dark spaces and so I brought to life several walls at those 2 locations, with the support of the NGO’s I used to work with. One day a friend asked me to help out at an UNRWA school at Burj Barajneh and I called few more friends. We visited the place and since that moment we decided to have more than one school in the region and so I Leaf Art was born, in November 2012; As an Art movement.
Our goal is to make unprivileged communities and spaces a better place and environment for children and adults. "Turning a sad, in ruins and fading place into a dreamy and magical one! Targeting public schools, playgrounds, community centers and public spaces (indoor and outdoor), prisons, orphanages, psychiatric hospitals, shelters"; working mostly with special populations.
"We give life to the walls surrounding those dark spaces" of confinement; we heal by using the Beauty of Art.
