Biography
I was born in Nicosia, Cyprus in 1966 and graduated from department of Engineering Sciences in METU in Ankara and MBA in EMU in Cyprus. I took courses on Graphic Design in Kensington and Chelsea College and Photography in Central Saint Martins College and graduated from ‘Photography and Filmmaking’ in Anadolu University. Because of my intense interest on diverse cultures and social issues, my photographs are mostly on people, life, travel and cultures. I took part in two group exhibitions in London between 2006-2007. In 2010, I participated in ‘How Much’ Contemporary Art Exhibition in Nicosia. I partook in the ‘Futureless Lives’ group photography exhibition in Turkey and Cyprus showing the life of the Palestinians in Palestinian Refugee Camps of Lebanon. I represented northern part of Cyprus in Bashkortostan Photographers Meeting. I have been chosen ‘The best Photographer of the Year’ in 2014 in Cyprus. I had my first personal exhibition ‘Exotic Morocco’ in 2014. I also took part in the Documentary Photography Workshop Group Exhibition in Cyprus and “Embodied Spaces” Workshop Group Exhibition in Austria in 2015. My documentary ‘The Years in Between’ have been chosen to be screened in 2. Documentary Photography Days in Istanbul, Turkey in 2015. The same documentary has been awarded the First Place in moving images documentary category and Second Place in general moving images category in Moscow International Foto Awards. I have been awarded many times in national and international competitions.
