Biography
International Contemporary Masters is a unique collection of artists from all over the world and its purpose is to create a document as to what is happening in the art field all over the world in the 21st century.
Over 1,000 artists have been presented in these volumes over the last 6 years. We present here in this show the artists in Volume V, which was released last December.
And we are delighted to see that as the books have become acclaimed and enjoy an ever-widening reputation, so this exhibition at this museum has also become something of an institution.
We believe it is extremely interesting and very important to present together in actuality even for a short time, works of the artists who are presented together within the covers of the book. As in the book, there is no overt theme. On the contrary, there is a huge diversity in visions, approaches, personalities, techniques and media, and the magical and unexpected impressions of this kaleidoscope are precisely what I pursue as the curator.
And as diversity is the distinguishing characteristic of the “Masters” series and this exhibition, it is also the one word that best sums up the whole world of art today. Gone are the overriding movements, standards, and even geographical centers that once prevailed. What we have instead is an exhilarating freedom, where each artist can pursue his or her own path.
We would like to think that in creating this series of books, and in curating such exhibitions, we are helping many worthy artists to pursue these paths and to explore new territories. This is our whole purpose, and to see all these very different visions and quests together is the greatest reward we could desire for our efforts.
